The Aure valley and the neighboring Louron valley are known for their typical regional villages , with their slate roofs and unrivalled charm. We invite you to discover Vielle-Aure, with its village square, fountain, 12ᵉ century parish church and manganese mine, and, next to the campsite, the 11th and 12th century chapel of Saint-Pierre d’Agos, listed as a historic monument on May 19, 1863.

Typical villages to discover in the Aure valley
The Aure valley, renowned for its authenticity, is packed with picturesque villages where time seems to have stood still.
- Vielle-Aure: just a stone’s throw from the campsite, this charming village features a lively central square (with guinguette and concert evenings in summer!), a historic fountain and a XIIᵉ-century parish church, a jewel of Pyrenean Romanesque art. And don’t miss the manganese mine, an unusual site that bears witness to local history.
- Saint-Lary-Soulan: much more than a ski resort, Saint-Lary is a dynamic village where cobbled streets, artisanal stores and restaurants serving local specialities invite you to stroll. Our campsite near Saint-Lary-Soulan is ideally located for exploring this charming village.
- Arreau: this medieval village, just 15 minutes from the campsite, is a must-see. Take the historic circuit, discover the stone bridges, half-timbered houses and, above all, the Thursday morning market, renowned for its local produce and friendly atmosphere.
The Aure valley also boasts many other typical villages, such as Cadéac and Tramezaïgues, each offering a unique panorama of the mountains.
Exploring the Louron valley
The Louron valley, next to the Aure valley, is a haven of peace, rich in unspoilt villages and enchanting landscapes.
- Loudenvielle: this emblematic village invites you to enjoy its soothing lake, ideal for a stroll or a picnic. After your stroll, relax at the Balnéa spa, a must-see wellness center.
- Génos: just outside Loudenvielle, this charming little village offers breathtaking mountain views and is the starting point for several accessible hikes.
- Mont: perched high in the hills, this village is famous for its stone houses and slate roofs, typical of the region.
As you travel through the Louron valley, you’ll also discover small Romanesque churches and incredible panoramas, perfect for photography enthusiasts.
Immersion in Aragon
Just an hour’s drive from the campsite, the Spanish border opens the door toAragon, a region rich in history and spectacular scenery.
- Aínsa: this medieval village is a veritable treasure trove. Stroll along its cobbled streets, admire its stone houses and visit its fortified castle. The view of the mountains from the main square is breathtaking.
- Lake Médiano: close to Aínsa, this artificial lake is a unique curiosity. On a clear day, the ancient bell tower of the submerged church emerges from the waters, creating a striking spectacle.
- Ordesa Canyon: for nature lovers, the Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park is a must, with its deep gorges, waterfalls and spectacular scenery.
